The Airpax™ 6600 series is a RoHS-compliant, single-pole, single-throw subminiature bimetal thermostat with distinct snap action, providing accurate and reliable sensing and switching in one and the same component.
The 6600 series thermostat dimensionally follows the international 8-pin DIP package standard (N8A Dual Inline Package). The 6600 is very well suited for mounting on circuit boards. Its size and shape save space on densely populated boards, and it can be mounted with automatic insertion equipment. The component is sealed to withstand wave soldering and board cleaning.
The 6600 provides fast and distinct response with excellent repeatability. The thermostat has a switching capacity of up to 1 A at 48 V DC or 120 V AC and handles low-level switching down to 0.001 A–0.020 A at 5 V DC for 100,000 cycles. The temperature is factory set and cannot be adjusted in the field.
Applications include computers and peripherals, aerospace, automotive and test equipment. Typical uses are to light a signal lamp, give an audible alarm, energise a control circuit to send a message to a display or even break a circuit to shut down a system.
The 6600 thermostat is temperature tested in a computer-controlled, automated test oven with air circulation. Since testing takes place under ideal conditions, independent testing by the customer may be needed to ensure that the correct calibration is used in the application.
