R8 series high voltage relays are a variant of the R2 series, featuring molybdenum/tungsten contacts for enhanced make and break load switching and offering the same 15kV voltage rating. While the R8 series offers improved performance in switching, it has a higher contact resistance compared to the R2, resulting in a reduced 30 amp continuous current carry rating. Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) configuration provides design flexibility by incorporating both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contact sets within a single relay. Continuity transfers between the contact sets when the coil is powered on or off.
